Project description
Approximately 50% of trucks in Europe operate empty or partially loaded, which highlights inefficiencies stemming from outdated management practices, including reliance on manual tools like Excel spreadsheets. These tools lack real-time data integration, advanced route optimization, and predictive analytics, hindering effective planning and truck capacity utilization. Consequently, trucks frequently return empty or fail to maximize cargo capacity during trips. This inefficiency results in higher operational costs, unnecessary fuel consumption, increased CO2 emissions, and reduced competitiveness for logistics companies, emphasizing the need for data-driven solutions to optimize resource use and sustainability.
Competitive Analysis
I conducted an analysis of the key objectives, marketing profile, and overall strategy of competitors. Additionally, I developed both SWOT and UX analyses.
There are different types of competitors on the market, each with its own focus. Â Some offer a mobile app for specific logistics handling, To direct competitors we have also started to look further at how other transport apps work. These were: Uber, DHL, PostNL and FedEx

Learn from the experts
For the target group I contacted together with the Product owner the company Maersk. Also our largest customer and investor. Together with the Business analyst, we recruited a focus group of 20 people to question them through various sessions.
Of these 20 people, 10 were older or with one of the 4 possible disabilities, such as cognitive, physical, auditory and/or visual following the WCAG guidlines
The finalized persona's for het following target groups:
- Security personnel at entrance
- Truck drivers
- Courriers
- Warehouse employees
- Planning Department
- Administrative handling department

How are the persona's connected
To understand different departments, it is crucial to think about how the follow-up process is managed. The next section provides a drilled-down overview of the entire user requirements structure and a seamless user flow, providing valuable insights. In addition, this is the part that causes the most problems, which is also our starting point of the solution.
Design and build step-by-step
According to our research, individuals engaged in logistics predominantly rely on office packages, frequently devising their own forms and formulas to manage their tasks.
As previously stated, we concentrated on a particular segment of the overall process, using it as a foundation for our project. The objective is to create an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) that will be progressively improved to build a robust system.
Throughout the development process, we collaborated with Clients, business engineers, and the UX department, conducting design sprints together. To facilitate seamless data communication across all departments, our choice was to adopt a web-based Software as a Service (SaaS) environment, along with a mobile app.
